Every language teacher knows the problem. You hear each student for a few minutes a week, and everything they practise at home is invisible. Did they practise at all? Which sound do they keep getting wrong? You cannot listen to every student between lessons.
Today we are launching TonePerfect for Schools to fix exactly that.
What it is
TonePerfect scores your voice sound by sound. With TonePerfect for Schools, a teacher creates a school and classes on the teacher site, and students join a class with a code in the app's Practice tab. Homework is done in the app, and the results land in the teacher's dashboard.
For every student, teachers see:
- practice days
- scores
- weakest tones and sounds
- homework results
- class ranking
Why we built it
Pronunciation is the part of a language that needs the most repetition and gets the least feedback outside the classroom. A teacher can fix a tone in ten seconds when they hear it, but they only hear it if the student is in the room. We built TonePerfect for Schools so the practice between lessons is visible, and so lesson time goes to the sounds each class actually struggles with. It was built first with Chinese-language schools, where tones make this problem obvious, and it works for every language TonePerfect teaches.
What it costs
- The school pays $2 per student per month. Pay yearly and you pay for 10 months, so two months are free.
- The first month is free, and no card is needed.
- Students do homework in the app with unlimited recordings, without a personal subscription.
- Once the school plan is paid, students get 50% off a personal TonePerfect Pro subscription for everything else.
- The school earns 20% of its students' personal subscription payments for 12 months after each student joins.
Privacy
Teachers see only the name the student chooses, practice days and scores, weakest sounds and homework results. They never see recordings or account details. Students consent when they join a class, and they can leave at any time.
How to start
- Open the teacher site (Ukrainian, Russian and English) and create your school.
- Add a class and copy its code.
- Give the code to your students: they open the Practice tab in the app and enter it.
- Set the first homework and watch the results arrive.
