In speech, 号 (hào) is more common than 日 (rì) for the day.
Chinese dates run from big to small: year, then month, then day — 2026年7月21日. Years are read digit by digit (二零二六), months and days use ordinary numbers plus 月 (yuè, month) and 日 (rì, day), and weekdays are 星期 + a number, Monday being 星期一.

How do you say the year in Chinese?
Digit by digit, then 年 (nián): 2026 is 二零二六年 (èr líng èr liù nián) — not "two thousand twenty-six".
What is the difference between 日 and 号?
Both mean the day of the month. 日 (rì) is the written/formal form; 号 (hào) is what people actually say. "May 3rd" is written 5月3日 but spoken wǔ yuè sān hào.
How do weekdays work?
星期 (xīngqī) plus a number 1–6 for Monday–Saturday: 星期一 is Monday. Sunday is 星期天 or 星期日, never 星期七.
